What do you get when you mix San Francisco’s laid-back and relaxed atmosphere with Silicon Valley’s techie culture? Why, Redwood City, of course.
A heavy hitter in the tech scene, Redwood City is home to several major tech companies such as Oracle, Evernote, and Electronic Arts. City residents also know how to play, too, thanks to its plethora of attractions, retail options, top-notch restaurants, and public facilities.
Overview of Redwood City
Redwood City is located in San Mateo County and is home to some 85,000 residents.
While it is technically located outside Silicon Valley, Redwood City is usually lumped together with the likes of Cupertino and Palo Alto. That’s because of the presence of major tech companies and startups like GoFundMe, BroadVision, and Equinix in its borders.
Redwood City’s housing market is incredibly diverse. It offers a healthy mix of affordable starter homes, modern apartments, new single-family homes, and luxury properties.
Highlights of the locale

- The Fox Theatre – Want to catch a show or two? Head to the historic Fox Theater, which dates back to 1929. It once hosted stars such as BB King and Vanessa Williams during its heyday. Now registered on the National List of Historic Places, the theater regularly shows a wide range of performances including live music, comedy shows, and theatrical productions.
- Edgewood Park – If you’re in the mood to hike, visit Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve. Situated just off of Interstate 280, this park is famous for its 10-mile trail network that traverses through wooded areas and grasslands.
